Io Isabella, Maratea (IT)
Io, Isabella International Film Week is the first southern italian (and second in Italy) Festival devoted to women and creative documentary starts its long winter dive made of meetings, visions, inspirations, long long journeys looking for cinematic treats to bring to Maratea. Meanwhile the organisation – together with our rich audience and devoted admirers – cares to thank from the heart all the sponsors and many supporters for their precious help, without which none would have been able to taste an excellent film programme and a serie of memorable events.
The Festival takes its name from Isabella Morra, a Renaissance poetess in 16th century Italy.
The first edition of the Festival was held in Isabella's home, the Castle of Valsinni, from 25 August to 31 August 2005.
The programme features about 70 films and is divided into two main sections: a competition exclusively devoted to films by and about women, and a section devoted to documentaries. There are also satellite programmes, including a "Country in Focus", talk shows, and various events.
